Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Tired of constantly peeling your iPod from its case to use your docking station or iPod speaker system? Does attaching dock-mounted accessories like a voice recorder make you speechless? Thanks to the SendStation Dock Extender, that's all a thing of the past. No matter what case you own, SendStation's Dock Extender has been designed to fit it. Your Dock Extender uses the same compact iPod plug as found on the standard iPod docking cable from Apple, so it's compatible with all cases that have a dock connector opening. The Dock Extender also includes a matching Universal Dock insert with a removable support and three interchangeable bumper caps. It's like a good friend, one you can lean on: All iPods in all cases are welcome to take a break and recharge. (All 30 pins are passed through, so any other iPod feature works too, of course). Plug & play finally is back!

5 out of 5 stars Works well   October 1, 2008
Robert McMahan (Houston, TX United States)
I was having problems with my Ipod Touch docking to the clock that I purchased with an ipod dock. With the hard case on, it would not fit on the clock, and I was afraid of breaking the either the port on the clock, or the ipod. The Dock Extender works great to allow me to plug the touch into the clock and give great support so that I can work the controls without bending anything.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect extender!   September 17, 2008

Perfect for what I was needing it for! Now I no longer have to take my iPod classic out of the case before I can hook it up to the fm transmitter! It works with all the cases I have for my iPod. Perfect perfect perfect!!! :-)

5 out of 5 stars very helpful   May 4, 2008

I use this with my 80 gig video ipod and it lets me keep the case on and still connect it smoothly and easily to my apple dock. I like it enough that I'm buying another one.

1 out of 5 stars JBL owners beware   December 5, 2007
R. Carroll (Johnstown, Pennsylvania United States)
Although a good idea, it will not work with the JBL "On Stage". The base of the Sendstation is too big to fit into the iPod docking area.
Save your money. Do not buy.

3 out of 5 stars Able to use with case, but not too well.   November 19, 2007

Pros: for the most part, can dock ipod nano 2gen with case, though it's too fat and pushes the case halves apart to seat properly. This causes the extender to get pinched and stay with ipod when ipod removed from dock.

Cons: Waaaaay too expensive for what it is, though without competition on the market... it's the only way to go.
I had mine fall apart when I gently pulled on the housing to remove it from the white ipod cable. I had forgotten to press the sides of the oem white cable and the guts slipped right out of the plastic housing. This was my mistake, but I wasn't pulling that hard. Fortunately, I was able to bend the foil shilding back in place for the most part and put it back together. Glue would be a great idea.

All in all, it does the job, but just barely.
